Webcam Modeling, Pure Keynesian Economics

John Menard Keynes’ Economic Theory of Capitalism states that supply and demand sets the price by which consumers are willing to pay for any given product. His theory is no more evident than in the online industry of Webcam Modeling whereas models are free to set the maximum price for which they can earn from the sites paying members.

To simplify Keynes’ theory, he states that prices are dictated based on two components: supply of a product versus the demand of a product. If a product is plentiful (high supply) then it is easy to find a supplier willing to sell it creating competition. This creates downward pressure on price because several suppliers are willing to offer it to consumers. In a farmers market, there are usually several suppliers of any given popular vegetable or fruit. Suppliers have an understanding of what price they can fetch based on their competing suppliers pricing. A supplier who sets his price too high will not sell as much product as a supplier that sets the price in a median range. Conversely, the supplier who sets the price lower than other suppliers will sell out too quickly and not make as much profit as a median priced supplier. Example: if the median cost to produce a tomato is .$0.50 per pound and the median sales price of a tomato is $0.80 per pound, then all the suppliers in that range will profit $0.30 per pound. A supplier who sets his sales price at $1.00 per pound for the same variety of tomatoes will sell a small amount of product which will not generate enough profit to continue. A supplier who sets his price at $0.60 per pound will sell out of tomatoes but still not make enough profit to continue selling at that price. If the farmers market sees 5 more tomato suppliers next week, the increased competition will put downward pressure on all suppliers prices because now the market has more suppliers offering the same product. Likewise, if half the suppliers did not come back the following week, the supply of tomatoes will go down putting upward pressure on the price.

Keynes states that the consumer sets the demand for a product. If consumers/buyers really desire a product, they are willing pay a higher price. Higher demand puts pressure on suppliers to meet that demand. Suppliers need to increase their means of production in order to meet demand. Using our tomato example above, if consumers began demanding more tomatoes than suppliers could offer, then suppliers would raise the price to meet that demand based on the same amount of supplied product. Conversely, if consumers demand for tomatoes declines, suppliers would have to lower their prices to attract the fewer consumers. The other option would be that some suppliers would not continue to sell tomatoes which restricts amount of tomatoes available for consumers. Less suppliers creates less overall supply which would help stabilize prices keeping them close to our median $0.50 per pound example.

Supply will rise and fall to meet demand of any given product. Gasoline supply increases in the summer because families travel in their cars more during the summer demanding more gasoline. Heating fuel supply increases in the winter in order to meet the increased demand. These two examples create upward pressure on price because suppliers have to increase production which increases operating costs and delivery costs in order to meet the consumers demand.

How does this translate to the Online Webcam Model industry?
The adult online industry is a saturated market, meaning there is a lot of demand for women and men who will perform all desired sexual acts, both free and for a price. To meet this saturated demand, there is a saturation of supply, as well, in order meet the increased demand. The internet has created a true “free market”. Consumers are able to locate and purchase any product wanted. Demand dictates the price as stated above. Online sex has a high demand. To meet that demand, competition among suppliers is also exceptionally high. This situation has put downward pressure on prices suppliers can obtain. If one supplier is too high the consumer will move to another site that is offering the same product at a lower price. If the high priced supplier is not offering more value (a topic for another article) for the higher priced product, that supplier will not remain in business. If a supplier has set a price too low offering less value, the supplier may create more demand than they can profitably supply.

Men who go online looking for women to perform live sexual acts are willing to pay a performer an amount equal to value of the performance. If a model has set a price at $5.00 per minute and she does not have any men willing to pay that price, she must adjust her price down until she reaches the point where men are willing pay for her performance. Also considered equilibrium pricing, the point where demand meets supply expressed in price. If she sets it too low, say $1.00 per minute, she will have too many men demanding her performance creating a time constraint on the number of men she can perform for at any given time. If she is not able to meet the demands of the men in her “room”, then the men will go find a performer who has the time to devote to them, even at a higher price. The performer has created more demand than she can supply. At that point, the model can raise her price which will drive away some men but keep men who feel the performance of the model is worth a higher price increasing her value. A model will only be able to set a price that the market is willing to pay. If the model is not desirable or not very experienced at attracting and keeping men in her “room”, then she will fetch a lower price. However, a model that is highly desirable and experienced at attracting and keeping men in her “room” will fetch a much higher price for her performances.

Here is where the adult online industry equalizes the economic playing field for models: there is a man for every woman and a woman for every man. What I mean by this statement is that no matter the appearance of a model, there are men online who desire every type of woman imaginable. What I consider undesirable in a woman, is another mans fantasy. A visit to any of the online Adult Webcam Websites will prove this point. If every man desired the same features in a woman, these websites would only display similar looking woman offering the same performances. Reality is men desire all types of women and performances. If a woman is willing to display herself on one of the many Adult Webcam sites on the internet, she will find men willing to pay her, no matter her appearance. It truly is a free, open market to anyone willing to participate.

As an operator of an online Adult Webcam Chatsite, I am free of pressure to find only what I consider beautiful women. I am willing to contract any woman that wants to be an online webcam performer. If she is unable to attract paying members after a few weeks, she will more than likely lower her price. If she is still unable to attract paying members, she may consider leaving the business for other pursuits. It creates a simple relationship between the model and site owner: if the model earns sufficient income to maintain her lifestyle then she continues; if she is not earning enough income to support her lifestyle she is free to terminate her contract in pursuit of other employment. I can remove all prejudices I may have of appearance, language, physical size, hair color, eye color, etc. It is to my benefit to contract as many women as possible.

I have not encountered an economic environment that is truly a free market where supply and demand is so evident and immediate as in the adult online Webcam Chatroom industry. Models can make immediate changes to their per minute price and have immediate results. Models are able to find an equilibrium price on a per session basis. If a model feels she is in a mood that will attract more men, she is free to set the price accordingly and profit well. Conversely, if the model is not in an attractive mood, she can set her price lower in order to make up for her perceived desirability. A smart model will maintain constant fluidity in her pricing giving her an advantage over a model who does not understand basic economic principles.

The Owners and Investors of TheCamHouse.com are pleased to announce they will be hosting a pre-launch party at Sullivan's Steakhouse in Tucson, AZ on December 12, 2009.
The festivities are open to ALL who wish to attend.

TheCamHouse.com is Pleased to Announce it's Owners/Creators/Investors will be hosting a pre-launch party in Tucson, AZ at Sullivan's Steakhouse on December 12, 2009 starting at 9:00 p.m. The Adult Webcam Chatroom site is scheduled for online release Christmas Eve, 2009.
The site is designed with a simple but yet professional look and feel to attract a wider variety of members than today's current online adult webcam chatroom sites. After conducting over 12 months of research of the majority of adult webcam chatroom sites, along with online
adult industry data, we discovered the industry is underserving the most influetial online demographic: male; 35+ age; $75,000+ income. This demographic make up is coined a "hidden guest". That means, someone who visits several performers/models on a single site or multiple
sites in a single online session but, does not actively converse with any performaers/models until he feels the performer/model has responded appropriately to other chatter's requests. This "Hidden Guest" is the primary member TheCamHouse.com's performers will be trained to
actively engage through specific dialogue. Through our specific dialogue training with our performers/models, we hope to set TheCanHouse.com apart from other sites that market to the masses.

Once the site is launched and membership grows steadily, we will introduce other online activities that cater to our target demographic in order to make his online entertainment experience exceptional.
